Nature Awareness WorkshopsWorkshops for children, teens, adults or families are available upon request.  In these, I am interested in sharing my deep love of the outdoors, using nature to learn to live from a true balance of mind, body and spirit.  Most of the time will be spent outdoors on a myriad of activities, some performed alone and many in groups. All nature awareness activities are conducted in Kitchener Waterloo, Ontario, easily accessible from the Cambridge and Guelph areas. If you are interested, please contact me directly.

Activities will include:

  • Wilderness survival skills
  • Quiet time alone in nature, learning to listen without words
  • Heightening awareness around you
  • Working with healing energies
  • Learning to develop “wilderness mind”
  • Making fire without matches
  • Tracking animals and their lives
  • Making wilderness shelter
  • Walking noiselessly in the woods
  • Meditations to connect with the spiritual side of the natural world
  • Expressing inner experience though drawing, journaling and group sharing
  • Developing awareness with senses other than sight through blindfold exercises

About the Teachings

The teachings are inspired by the work of Tom Brown Jr. in New Jersey, as well as my own path in life. Tom was taught by a Native elder, an Apache who he called “Grandfather”, throughout his childhood and teens. He was taught in the traditional style through daily life activities, those concerning physical survival in the natural world. These teachings are profound, universal and fascinating, working on both physical and spiritual levels, blending the wisdom of ancient traditions and lifestyles, living in harmony with oneself, the human community and the natural world. They appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds with varying interests. Children respond quickly to re-discovering their mystical connection to the earth that sustains us.

To find out more about the teachings of Tom Brown Jr., read his first book The Tracker or any of his numerous subsequent ones, or visit his school's website at www.trackerschool.com
